Inspiration

A Sleeping Thought by ~carrieola on deviantART

"In my nature is one who wishes to know himself;
I am a sleeping thought that does not cease thinking.
I am the dream that I see and feel I am."

Maybe using this idea of getting text from newspapers, or magazines and only revealing the words that matter to explain the emotions felt in the last 24hours of your life?

Flux by =silocult on deviantART

It's actually a t-shirt design, but the fluctual style used on the text shows movement, and maybe the disappearance of emotions that once was there, and now wont exist no more as the person breathes his/her last breath.

KARIZMA by =silocult on deviantART

Maybe my most favourite style of presenting work, but wouldn't work with the brief that I am working with. Another thought that needs to be taken into consideration is the colours used. What would be the best colours to show the emotion that THIS person is going through. And the layout of this work, is clean, and precise, where this wouldn't work again with the 24hour brief due to the fact, the person processing his/her thoughts wont have time to think, or organise their thoughts and memories, instead they would try to ram everything into the last 24hours of their life to fulfill their dreams.

Mutual Assured Destruction 001 by ~LouieHitman on deviantART

Another same style as above.

Maybe the best way to explain sheer confusion, and trying to process a timeline of what happens at every hour, till the last hour of your life chimes "GAME OVER", something where it isn't mechanical, but still shows that the brain has worked overtime to make every idea work.

This is OVER CONFUSION, but this would work well too.

One more week of work left :/

Well I've finally told my boss that I need time off, and get my head into the two A3 books, that look so bare...Need to fill it up with the ideas I got. Been so stressed out with work, tired of seeing Batman and Superman, and hearing 'Cupcakes' every second.

Hopefully with two weeks left before college, yes I got 2weeks left to squeeze out some juicy ideas out of this spongy brain, and see if I can redesign the iPhone (LOL), I mean run face first into this "24hour" brief.

I have this idea of using semiotics and typography to create a timeline, to show the start to the end, and how you arrived to the destination. Whether they were catapulted, as long as they can describe emotions, feelings and thoughts through icons so that the viewer can understand what they are trying to communicate, because this is what Graphic Design is.

Layout Workbook - Kristin Cullen "For the designer, design is a creative journey - a process of discovery - that is fuelled by inspiration and creative passion, as well as the desire to enrich and ignite communication. Designers are the engineers and craftsman of visual messages."

With the above quote, it explains perfectly how I want to process my ideas.

•What if this person who was experiencing his life whizz past him at supersonic speeds, making decisions on the spot, because he/she has 24hours to live.
•What would they do?
•What are their last words before they pass to the other side?

(Maybe because of the speed that they are rushing, the small 'animation' presented to the viewer is sped up, and the last few moments are slowed down so that they can process them memories.) - Motion Graphics

I will probably process this in three ways; Typographically, Motion graphics and Sound. Its a form of emotion that needs to be shared with the surrounding, and explain to them "this is what I saw flashed in front of my eyes".

Anyway I hope this explains where I am. Hopefully after Friday, I will be posting more, and showing the research and ideas that I have come up with.

Busy week + NEC EXPO

Well this week has been the busiest of all the weeks, and has hardly given me time to get on with my FMP & 24hour project.

With the Autumn Crafts Fair 2010 starting on Saturday, everything has been lastminute.com with the jobs building up. Maybe learnt a lot more at work, with jobs piling up, and NOT leaving things last minute.

Well the 24hour project has been slow so far, but have got an idea of using 'Aircraft Safety' cards, but making a 'Last 24hr in your life' card, and creating an animation to go along with it, which will be connected to create the exhibition. Maybe a projection of the people as well. When I have time, i'll share a small sketch, that doesn't confuse you anymore.

FMP...two words..

I've just got NEON, GLOW IN THE DARK, and LARGE TYPOGRAPHY CITY in my head. Just putting together a folder of inspiration, and other finished projects by graphic designers, and the way they have presented it at shows, so allow me to draw some ideas.

Neon-Brain-Wave ?!?

It's 10:18, @ work and all I can think at the moment is neon, doesn't make sense why though.

These typographic landscapes are giving me an idea though? Maybe I should do a 3D version? merging out the ground?

BUT

The 3D version is splashed with glow in the dark paint dripping from the top, making it look like it has sprayed out of the ground. Don't know it if it will work tough...

here's two pieces I have come up with that I may make 3D.
